Wester Star Truck Parts and Accessories
Western Star, is a part of the Daimler Trucks company. It made its debut in 1967 as a producer of oilfield and logging trucks. Western Star has since expanded its range of products, producing about a dozen different trucks that not only include trucks of the vocational type, which can be used for activities like logging and construction, but also trucks of the highway and XD (extreme-duty) type.
The truck company produces six main lines of trucks: 6900, 4900, 5700, 4700 and 4800. The 6900 comes in a TS (twin-steer) style, which has dual main and auxiliary gears, and an XD style that comes in 6 different configurations; the latter also comes in the form of a tractor. The 4900 is Western Star’s line with the largest variety of styles. It comes in SB (set-back axle), SF (set-forward axle), EX (extended hood), TS and XD forms. The 5700 comes only in an XE (extreme efficiency) form. The 4700 and 4800 both come in SB and SF forms with the latter having an additional TS form.
Although the company produces all trucks in America (it has one plant in Portland, Oregon and another in Cleveland, Ohio), it still has managed to play a role in the global market. Western Star has dealers in South Africa, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand. As a part of Daimler, it provides some of the same services as Freightliner, including 24-hour access to repair services at ServicePoint.
